What is Treetag?

Treetag encompasses the meticulous documentation of endangered plants, entailing the systematic planting and tracking of native species exclusive to a specific geographic area.

This comprehensive approach includes detailed record-keeping of species names, planting dates, locations, and environmental conditions, thereby contributing to the preservation and promotion of local biodiversity.

FAQ

1. What is DP Tree Book?

DP Tree Book is an environmental conservation initiative by DP Education in collaboration with Planet Protectors. The project focuses on geo-tagging and planting endangered and endemic plant species of Sri Lanka to support biodiversity conservation.

Geo-tagging means recording the exact geographic location of each planted endangered or endemic plant using digital tools. This allows us to monitor growth, track survival rates, and ensure long-term protection of these species.

Endangered plants are at risk of extinction, and endemic plants are species found only in Sri Lanka. Protecting and planting these species helps preserve the country’s unique biodiversity and ecological balance.

Students, schools, volunteers, and community members can participate through organized planting and geo-tagging programs conducted under the guidance of DP Education and Planet Protectors.

By combining tree planting with geo-tagging technology, DP Tree Book ensures accountability and sustainability. Each plant is digitally recorded, monitored, and maintained, creating measurable environmental impact rather than one-time planting efforts.
